All about Thomas A. Becket
Thomas a' Becket was born in London on December twenty first 1118. He was the archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 until he was martyred in 1170. Although his parents were not peasants and they actually had a great mark on the society, Thomas had a humble birth and in his earlier years he had associated with gentlefolk. Before studying in Paris he learned to read at Merton Abbey and when he first left school he was employed into secretarial work.In 1153 Becket was justice itinerant of three countries and seemingly chief organizer of the expedition to Toulouse. A problem that later caused his death was a feud with King Henry II who wanted more power to himself and less power to the church. Becket would not help him get that power and four of he king's knights killed Beckett.
